Drive Reconstruction
Project Overview
Major Mackenzie Drive Reconstruction delivered road reconstruction and trunk watermain installation for the Region of York completed in 2023. The project received the OPWA Structures Award in 2022 for the associated watermain work. Four Seasons delivered the contract as prime contractor.
Major Mackenzie Drive is a principal regional east-west arterial in York Region. The contract delivered full-depth reconstruction of the roadway within the contract section integrated with large diameter trunk watermain installation supporting the broader regional water distribution system.
The trunk watermain component received the OPWA Structures Award in 2022. Recognition reflected the technical demands of deep watermain installation in an active regional corridor environment and the integration of the underground scope within the road reconstruction sequence.
Continuous regional traffic on Major Mackenzie Drive was maintained throughout construction through coordinated staging with the Region of York. Book Seven certified traffic control personnel staffed every traffic-affecting work day on the contract.
The contract closed in 2023.
