Barrie Two-Way All Day
Infrastructure Improvements
Project Overview
The Barrie Two-Way All Day Infrastructure Improvements program covered layover facility construction at Barrie and Bradford supporting expanded GO Transit service on the Barrie corridor. Four Seasons delivered the work for Metrolinx.
The introduction of two-way all-day service on the GO Transit Barrie corridor required additional layover capacity to support train consists outside of service hours. Two new layover facilities at Barrie and Bradford were delivered under a single corridor-level program framework administered by Metrolinx.
Construction at both facilities proceeded within active rail corridor conditions. Trackbed construction, site servicing, drainage, and surfacing were delivered at each facility footprint through Four Seasons in-house civil trades. Continuous coordination with Metrolinx Rail Corridor Control and adjacent operations was managed under the established protocols.
Combined administration of the two facilities under one program supported scheduling consistency, resource sharing, and continuous coordination with Metrolinx through the prime contractor framework.
The work was completed within the program framework.
Key Aspects of the Work
Corridor-Level Program
Two layover facilities delivered under a single corridor-level program framework supporting the introduction of two-way all-day service on the Barrie corridor. Combined administration through Metrolinx.
Live Rail Environment
Construction at both facilities proceeded within active rail corridor conditions. Continuous coordination with Metrolinx Rail Corridor Control and adjacent operations managed under established protocols.
Trackbed and Civil Works
Trackbed construction, site servicing, drainage, and surfacing delivered at both facility footprints. Self-performed civil trades supported scheduling consistency across the two sites.
Program Coordination
Coordinated delivery across the two sites supported the overall corridor service introduction. Resource sharing and scheduling continuity managed through the prime contractor framework.
Work Components
